On Saturday we arrived at Barrio La Cruz and hiked a little ways up to this open field, dusty as it can be, and where it is common to loose your ground, or at least a soccer ball to a very steep slope that goes about 100 feet down.
Several adults and a very good number of children were waiting for us there! As soon as we arrived Rolando gave everybody instructions on how they were supposed to play starting with the little ones to the oldest, girls included, but somehow secluded to the end match.
As soon as the first team started to play Tito picked four of the local girls Ana Beatriz, Kandy, Loida and Arely, (which included the pastors daughter) to show them how the “pelota sin palabras” worked. Once the “lesson” was over he called Stephanie so one of the girls could practice sharing the gospel using the color on the ball. Then the rest of the girls got their chance to practice as well sharing the gospel to other people. The first team finished playing and the girls shared the gospel to a group of little children having all of them praying the sinner’s prayer! They did the same thing over with every team when they were done playing. When the matches were over we counted about 30 kids who had prayed the sinner’s prayer with us! and all it took was four young girls who were willing to try doing something that is not common in their culture, taking a step forward, in faith, and sharing the Word of God with male listeners.
At the very end of this activity the same four girls, Tito, and Rolando shared with everyone the message of the Cross making sure everyone had listened to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
