Back in El Barrio!

We have been back in Guatemala for 2 weeks and are keeping busy. Paso a Paso has 151 children in the education sponsorship program and we have successfully passed out all the school supplies door to door to the children and their families. This meant a lot of hiking up hills and sliding down hills. Thanks to some added family help it was great to get it done in just a week! I am always so amazed...

Heading back….

Since we have been back in the states for a bit a lot has happened here and in Guatemala. In Guatemala Rolando and his church put on their children’s yearly VBS and over 240 children attended! A New stove for Rolando

Rolando’s mother and sisters make about 400 tortillas a day to sell and for their family as well. The stove they had prior was about 12 years old and filled their corn husk room with smoke. For the women and small children working and playing in the kitchen this was a constant health and safety problem. They received a donated stove they was build and installed by a local stove builder. Trip to El Rejon

This past week we went on a long 2 hour hike up toward Sumpango (through Barrio la Cruz) to visit a couple of families in El Rejon. It was a beautiful hike through farm land and mountains to get to El Rejon. This is a mostly indigenous community where they speak Spanish and Kaqchikel. Sunday outing at Barrio la Cruz

This past Sunday the local church and community of Barrio la Cruz went and hiked a bit up the mountain to have a field day.
