Spring is here!

Spring is almost here and Paso a Paso has been busy getting our Little Steps “Pasitos” Preschool off and running for the beginning of it’s first official school year. Our after school program is doing well and kids continue to come and participate in activities such as; sports, games, weekly Bible studies and work on school work.
A few months back we were privileged to have Juan come and share his art with our children. Juan is a former homeless addict who is now a Christian and he spends his time investing in the lives of others. He comes every other Thursday to teach the children how to make something out of soda cans and share about his life and how God is using him.
Juan’s story is pretty special, he became homeless when his wife and young son were killed in accident and he started using alcohol. He now uses what was a terrible tragedy for something good, by bringing a positive change to these kids lives. He says he picks cans up off the street that people think are garbage and turns them into something beautiful. Just like some people may think some of these kids may amount to nothing but God can make something great out of what others consider nothing, these kids are treasures.

We also distributed school supplies and food bags to all our enrolled families, thanks to our volunteers and Zaida for all her organizational skills and to Rolando who willingly walked with us to deliver the bags from house to house (dogs and all.. 🙂 This is a big part of our ministry and without our regular donors it would not be possible, so thanks!
Over the past few months we have furthered the production of our bootmaking and artisan goods that have been on display at the store in Antigua and they have been well received! We have had a lot of custom orders from Americans to Guatemalans. The idea is that the profits will go directly back to the parents in our program that are making the goods and into our PAP program to cover program expenses. Please keep this in your prayers as we have had some setbacks with robberies and such that have been scary for all involved. If you’d like any information on a custom pair let us know.IMG_5690

Rolando continues to do Bible study every Friday and what a blessing that is to PAP. Zaida continues to be the leader of our after school program and plans out the day to day activities that take place. We are always amazed to see how much the kids improve academically through the year. As we prepare to host a large group this summer we are excited about the possibility of fixing our roof and making the building a little safer and more suited for our preschool and elementary classes.
Please check our our FB page that we update frequently, and my apologies for not updating the website as much as I should.
Our preschool is official underway and doing great and we have a full time teacher
Prayer: we still need sponsorship for our teacher throughout the year, $250 a month
we still need sponsorship for the snack/supplies for preschool
pray for safety for our workers and volunteers and for provision
Praise: We have a consistent amount of kids attending our program and regular schedule now for activies
Thankful that we still have Rolando doing Bible study and now he is doing it with the preschool and Juan is helping with activities.
